Drug Uses
Albenza is used to treat specific tapeworm infections such as neurocysticercosis as well as other types of worm infections.
How taken
Depending on your weight, response to the treatment and your medical condition, the dosage differs from person to person. Usually this medication is to be taken 1 to 2 times daily, orally with meals. If there is a problem in regards to swallowing the tablet, it may be crushed or chewed with water. Depending on conditions, you may have to stop the medication for 2 weeks, then resume later. Nevertheless, the medication must be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Warnings/Precautions
It is important to discuss with your doctor the effects that Albenza may have on your body. Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Storage
Ensure that Albenza is stored between 20 to 25 degrees away from heat and light. Discard the medicine if it outdated and keep it away from the bathroom, kitchen sink or a damp place.
Possible Side Effects
Side effects are rare however check with your doctor if any of the following occur – unusual weakness, skin rash, fever, sore throat, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and dizziness.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention if you have overdosed.

Albenza can be used for other medical problems including Capillariasis, Cutaneous larva migrans, Common roundworms (ascariasis), Whipworms (trichuriasis), Trichostrongyliasis, Tapeworms (taeniasis), Hookworms (ancylostomiasis and necatoriasis), Pinworms (enterobiasis or oxyuriasis) and Strongyloidiasis.
