Drug Uses
Atarax relieves the symptoms of anxiety and tension linked with psychoneurosis and as an accessory in organic disease states in which anxiety is evident.
How Taken
The recommended dosage for adults is 50 – 100mg a day and for children over the age of 6 is 50 – 100mg daily in separated doses. Children under the age of 6 should have 50mg a day in divided doses.
Warnings/Precautions
Use caution when breast feeding as it unknown whether it passes through breast milk.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you recall. If it is nearly the time for your next prescribed amount, skip the missed dose and continue the schedule as per usual. Do not double dose.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects are mild and may include dry mouth and drowsiness.
Storage
Atarax is to be stored in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture and out of reach of children.
Overdose
If an overdose is suspected, seek emergency attention. Hypersedation may indicate an overdose.

Atarax may increase the chance of drowsiness therefore caution must be taken when performing activities where you need to be alert such as driving a car or operating machinery.
