Drug Uses
Cyclobenzaprine is used to treat aching and stiff muscle injuries. It is a muscle relaxant that will ease the pain from sprains, strains and muscle spasms.
How Taken
Cyclobenzaprine should be taken with food or water, exactly as prescribed. It comes in the form of a 10mg tablet that is usually taken three times a day. No more than 60mg of Cyclobenzaprine should be taken daily.
Warnings/Precautions
Inform your doctor about your medical history especially if you have had heart disease, any allergies, glaucoma, difficulty urinating or an overactive thyroid gland.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take the next one as you soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed one and return to your normal schedule. Do not take two tablets at once.
Possible Side Effects
Symptoms of possible side effects include extreme muscle stiffness, skin rash, swelling of the face, difficulty urinating, itching and rapid heartbeat. Notify your doctor so he or she can determine your options. During the first few days, you may suffer from dizziness, drowsiness, headache, heartburn, stomach upset and constipation as your body adjusts to the Cyclobenzaprine. If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
Storage
Keep out of reach of children and store between 15 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.
Overdose
These symptoms indicate an overdose and medical attention must be sought if they appear: extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, extreme tiredness, vomiting, seizure, unusual muscle stiffness, hallucination and unstable temperature.
More Information
This drug may have fatal consequences when interacting with MAO inhibitors. It may also boost the effects of CNS depressants such as alcohol and barbiturates. Be cautious when rising from a lying or sitting position as the drug may enhance lightheadedness and dizziness. Furthermore use caution when using stairs and when performing hazardous activities.
