Drug Uses
Eurax is taken to reduce itching related to particular conditions or to treat scabies.
How Taken
Eurax is not an oral medication. It is to be used externally only. Firstly you must shake the lotion well before applying it. Then spread a thin layer across your dry body from your neck to the soles of your feet. Rub it in well. You should not need to apply it your head as scabies does not usually infect that area however if prescribed to apply to your head, then do so. Without washing, leave the medication on for 24 hours then apply a second dose of medication as you did before. Leave on for a further 48 hours, then thoroughly wash off.
Warnings/Precautions
Do not use Eurax any more than recommended and do not take orally. Avoid applying the medication to your mouth, nose and eyes. Wash all your clothing, bed linen, hats, hair brushes and combs in a cleanser or disinfectant with hot water to rid of all mites and eggs.
Missed Dose
Eurax is to be taken twice, 24 hours apart. If you miss the second dose, it may be necessary to do a re-treatment as it is vital to follow the recommended dosage. Contact your pharmacist or doctor.
Possible Side Effects
If you experience any of the following: shortness of breath, closing of your throat; swollen lips, face, or tongue; or hives, you may be suffering from an allergic reaction.
Storage
Eurax is stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
Overdose
If ingested, symptoms of an overdose include a burning mouth, inflamed or irritated mouth, throat, and stomach lining; nausea; vomiting; and abdominal pain. Seek emergency attention immediately.
More Information
If you get Eurax in your eyes, nose or mouth, flush with water immediately.
