Uses of Flexeril
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant that contains cyclobenzaprine as its active ingredient. It is used to treat injury-related pain and stiffness. Flexeril is the drug to take if you are experiencing muscle spasms of have some sprains and strains.
Flexeril is in the form of 10mg tablets. The normal dose given to adults is one tablet three times a day. Make sure that you do not go over 60 mg within a 24 hour period. If your stomach gets upset when taking Flexeril, take it with food. Take it as prescribed by your doctor and do not alter your dose unless he instructed.
Safety Guidelines & Possible Side Effects
Not everyone can just take Flexeril. So, inform your doctor about your full medical history. Alert him if you have allergies, glaucoma, heart disease, difficulty urinating or an overactive thyroid. Also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding. Your dosage may be adjusted according to your condition or you may even be advised against taking Flexeril.
Flexeril may cause constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, heartburn or stomach upset on the first few days. You have to adjust to the medication. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, you must inform your doctor. Talk to your doctor if you develop difficulty urinating, itching, muscle stiffness, palpitations, skin rash and swelling of the face.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If, however, it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then just skip the missed dose. You should not double dose on Flexeril.
Storage
Store Flexeril ideally at 25°C (77°F) but you may also store it at temperatures between 15-30°C (59-86°F). Keep it away from the reach of children.
Overdose
If you overdose on Flexeril, you may experience the following symptoms: breathing difficulty, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucination, palpitations, seizure, tiredness, unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness and vomiting. Immediately call for emergency medical attention.

Flexeril can worsen the effects of CNS depressants, such as alcohol and barbiturates.
