Uses of Microzide

Microzide is a diuretic. So it is used to treat edema, fluid retention and high blood pressure.

Take Microzide in the morning, at least this is the usual instruction. Take it with milk or food to prevent stomach upset.

Safety Guidelines & Possible Side Effects

Talk to your doctor if you have any allergies, diabetes, gout, liver problems and urinary problems before taking Microzide. Your doctor may need to monitor your condition while you are being treated with Microzide. He may also decide not to prescribe the drug depending on your state of health.

With Microzide, side effects rarely happen but may come in the form of back pain, side pain, cough, chills, black stools, difficulty or painful urination, joint pain, blood in urine or stools, hives, jaundice, nausea, red spotty skin, unusual bleeding or bruising and rash. If symptoms persist, worse or simply bother you, consult your doctor.

Missed Dose

As with many other types of medication, Microzide must not be taken in double doses. Take your missed dose when you remember. However, do not take it too close to the next scheduled dose.

Storage

Keep Microzide in a tight container placed at room temperature, away from heat, light and moisture. Make sure that children cannot reach its hiding place. Discard expired medication at once.

Overdose

Symptoms of Microzide overdose may include breathing difficulty, confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, fainting, slow heart beat, seizures and unconsciousness.

If you can avoid activities that are potentially dangerous while on Microzide, it would be for the best. Use caution if you must really perform activities, such as operating machinery for your job and driving for work. Microzide can cause dizziness, drowsiness and blurry vision. These symptoms can be aggravated if you also take alcohol while on treatment.
