Drug Uses
Mircette Tablets are a form of oral contraception and will prevent pregnancy if taken properly. It contains the following components - desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol.
How Taken
It is recommended that Mircette Tablets are taken with or after a peal to prevent stomach cramps. Mircette should be taken once a day at the same time every day. This medication comes in either a 21 day or 28 packets. If you are taking the 21 day packet, take one tablet every day for 21 days then do not take any tablets for the following seven days to allow you to menstruate. On the eighth day, you may resume a new packet. If you are taking the 28 day packet, take one pill daily for 28 days then resume a new packet thereafter. You will notice that the final seven pills are a different color to indicate they contain no active ingredients. During this period, your menstruation will occur.
Warnings/Precautions
All birth control pills, including Mircette, are listed in the FDA pregnancy category X which means it is harmful to an unborn child due to the components within the drug that causes hormonal changes. It also passes through breast milk. Do not take Mircette if you are pregnant and consult with your doctor if you are breast feeding an infant. If you suffer from angina, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, blood disorders, hormone related cancer, liver disease, jaundice, abnormal vaginal bleeding, migraines, seizures, epilepsy or asthma, talk to your doctor before taking Mircette.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and resume as normal. If you miss more than two active pills in a week, your chances of pregnancy are increased. Have a talk to your doctor if you are feeling troubled about the amount of doses you have forgotten to take.
Possible Side Effects
Side effects are uncommon but possible signs that require medical attention include an allergic reaction, blood clots, liver damage, nausea, yellow skin or eyes, high blood pressure, unusual bleeding, unusual bruising, stomach discomfort. Less serious side effects include headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding, depression, lethargy, fatigue, skin color changes, sex drive changes, vaginal yeast infection, oily skin, acne, changes in your menstrual cycle.
Storage
Store below 30 degrees Celsius.
Overdose
An overdose of Mircette may cause nausea and withdrawal bleeding. Contact appropriate medical authorities.
