Drug Uses
Motrin tablets are prescribed to relieve the pain derived from conditions such as primary dysmenorrheal, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It also eases the pain from more common medical problems such as menstrual cramps, toothache, back pain, arthritis, headache or minor injuries. Motrin is effective as it is classified in group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which work by reducing hormones that cause pain and inflammation.
How Taken
No more than 3200mg of Motrin should be taken on a daily basis.
Warnings/Precautions
Inform your doctor about your medical history and any medication you are taking. If you suffer from bronchospastic reactivity to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents talk to your doctor before taking Motrin. You should not take this drug if you have the syndrome of nasal polyps and angioedema.
Missed Dose
Do not take two doses of Motrin. If you miss a dose, take it when you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one completely and resume as normal.
Possible Side Effects
Possible side effects include gastrointestinal problems, blurred vision or changes in color vision.
Storage
Motrin should be stored at room temperature and kept out of reach of children.
Overdose
If acute ingestion of large doses of Motrin occur, seek emergency help or empty the stomach by forceful vomiting.
