Drug Uses
Nasacort is used to treat nasal symptoms such as an itchy runny nose, sneezing and congestion which are common seasonal and year round allergy indicators. Nasacort is FDA approved and is only available when prescribed for patients 12 years and older.
How Taken
Nasacort is a nasal spray that is inhaled via the nose. It should be inhaled no more than four times a day. Blow your nose to clear your nasal passage prior before you inhale and avoid blowing your nose for at least 15 minutes afterwards.
Warnings/Precautions
Inform your doctor if you suffer from any bacterial, fungal or viral infections as the use of Nasacort may hinder the healing process of these medical conditions. This drug is listed in the FDA category C which means it is unknown whether it is harmful to an unborn child. Furthermore it has not been researched if it passes through breast milk. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant, intend to become pregnant or are breast feeding throughout your Nasacort treatment.
Missed Dose
Take it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for you to inhale, skip the missed one completely.
Possible Side Effects
If the following signs occur, report swiftly to appropriate medical authorities – extreme weakness, weight loss, fainting, dizziness, vision changes, nausea, fainting, unusual nose or throat irritations.
Storage
Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature, avoid freezing and protect from moisture and sunlight.
Overdose
It is unlikely that an overdose will occur using Nasacort. However if you suspect an overdose, seek emergency attention.
