Uses of Vaniqa

Vaniqa cream is a drug prescribed for skin application to reduce facial hair. It is a medicine especially formulated for women. It prevents facial hair growth by targeting the follicles. Vaniqa, however, is neither a depilatory cream nor a cure. You should use it in conjunction with any other hair removal techniques you are employing.

Apply Vaniqa cream in thin strips on affected areas of the face and chin. Do not rinse for at least four hours. Use the cream twice a day, with at least an 8 hour interval or as prescribed. Apply it at least 5 minutes after your hair removal technique. You can use cosmetics and sunscreens as long as the cream is already dry.

Safety Guidelines & Possible Side Effects

Do not use Vaniqa if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are below 12 years of age. You should inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or are pregnant before using the cream. It is not yet determined if Vaniqa cream is harmful to the unborn child or the breastfeeding baby.

Vaniqa causes temporary side effects such as burning, tingling, stinging or a rash on the treated areas. There may also be hair bumps after a treatment. Call your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen. Less common side effects include bleeding, cheilitis, contact dermatitis, herpes simplex, numbness, rosacea and swollen lips.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, just proceed to the next scheduled application.

Drug Storage

Store Vaniqa at 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures between 15 to 30 degrees Celsius (59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit) are allowable. Discard expired medication.

Overdose

It is unlikely that you or someone else will overdose on Vaniqa. However, if it does happen or if someone has ingested the cream, immediately call poison control of emergency medical services.

Other Information

Make sure you do not get Vaniqa in contact with your eyes, mouth or nose. If it still happens, flush area with water. Rinse thoroughly.
