Retin-A changes the texture and appearance of skin by superficially peeling off a layer of the epidermis. It reduces the aging effects of sunlight on skin.

Instructions

Apply a thin layer of Retin-A on target area every day before bedtime. Use a cotton swab or gauze to apply the liquid. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. Do not use too much because going over what is prescribed will only increase side effects but will not improve results. Make sure the product does not reach the mouth, eyes or open cuts. Acne will appear worse for awhile but Retin-A takes three to six weeks before it shows its best results. Use only mild soap for washing during the course of the treatment.

Safety Precautions

Retin-A can make you more sensitive to cold, sunlight and wind. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and even artificial light, such as sunlight. Wear protective gear when going out. Consult your doctor before taking Retin-A if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The product is used by pregnant women only if badly needed.

Missed Dose

Do not double dose. So skip a dose if it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose.

Side Effects

To check for irritation, start the treatment on a small patch of skin. Retin-A can cause irritation and sensitivity to sunlight. In the case of hypersensitivity, however, discontinue Retin-A.

Drug Storage

Store Retin-A at room temperature, away from the reach of children.

Overdose

Using too much of Retin-A can cause discomfort, redness and peeling. Other side effects include abdominal pain,ataxia, celosias, dizziness, facial flushing and headache.

Other Information

Do not use Retin-A if you still have a skin rash from exfoliants or skin rash. You may use cosmetics but clean the skin you applied cosmetics before applying Retin-A.
